In a major development prominent business leader Upkar Singh Ahuja President of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) along with other industrialists met a delegation from National Green Tribunal (NGT) , National Disaster Response force ( NDRF) , local administration and other departments today at Giaspura where mysterious gas leak incident on April 30th this year left eleven people dead.

The bizmen drew attention of the delegation towards plight of about dozens of industrial units which are still closed ever since the incident occured as some of these were suspected of being responsible for this tragedy but till date no evidence has been found against any of these which could hold them guilty.

Industrialists also said that approximately 21 units are either closed or on verge of closure due to discontinuity of power or notices issued by the PPCB Department.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President of CICU and Honey Sethi, General Secretary of CICU requested the official delegation to advise concerned departments to restore and release connections of these factories and not take any action against any unit until owner of any of these is found guilty. The bizmen have also sent a representation to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann about pathetic condition of the area and also seeking state government's support in the hardships being faced by them..

Ramesh Kakkar President Jaspal Bangar Industrial association was also present on this ocassion. The official delegation meanwhile comprised of Dr. Raj Ram Singh, DIGF (C), Dy. Director General of Forest, Prof. Sreedevi Upadhyayula, Department of Chemical Engineering, District Magistrate, Ludhiana along with local officials, Joint commissioner, Municipal Ludhiana and ADC Ludhiana, Member Secretary and Chief Engineers PPCB Ludhiana.
