In a big reprieve for Canadian citizens, India from Thursday has started processing of visas for Canadian citizens under four categories namely, Entry Visa, Business Visa, Medical Visa, Conference Visa. The move comes close on the heels of 41 Canadian diplomats moving back to their home country after India threatened to revoke their diplomatic immunity.

Notably Indian government had taken the decision to halt visa processing of Canadian citizens from September 21^st 2023 after standoff with Canadian government on the issue of killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, Vancouver by unknown assailants. The situation had evolved to this point after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed during his address in the parliament that agents of Indian government might be responsible for killing of Nijjar.
