The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two officials of Delhi Police, including an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a complainant.
A case was registered by the CBI on 14th October 2024, based on allegations against the Inspector and Sub-Inspector of Burari Police Station, Delhi. According to the complaint, the Inspector initially demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 crore to avoid implicating the complainant in a case (No. 166/24) registered at Burari Police Station. Following negotiations, the demand was reduced to Rs 1 crore, with the Sub-Inspector acting as the intermediary. Eventually, the accused agreed to accept Rs 10 lakh as part payment.
The CBI set up a trap and apprehended the Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting the bribe on behalf of the Inspector. Subsequently, the Inspector was also taken into custody.
