NCB seizes Rs. 500cr worth Cocaine, busts international drug smuggling syndicate

In a big operation Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Northern Region has busted an international drug syndicate operating its activities through courier service and recovered more than 82 kilograms of Cocaine which is valued over Rs. 500 crore. The recovery was made by NCB from Janakpuri and Nangloi area of Delhi on Thursday November 14th which is outcome of the leads developed by the central agency during previous seizures in March and August.

In this case the initial recovery of contraband made from a courier shop in Delhi was from a parcel destined for Australia. NCB was able to backtrack the supply despite cut offs to the bulk quantity which was concealed at Janakpuri and Nangloi.

Shedding light on this massive haul which is one of the biggest recoveries in Delhi, NCB’s Deputy Director General of Northern Region, IPS Neeraj Kumar Gupta said, “Investigation conducted so far reveals that this syndicate is being operated by group of people abroad and some of the seized contraband was to be sent to Australia through courier, small cargo service. The persons involved in this case are mainly hawala operators and two main operatives of this syndicate in India are from Delhi and Sonipat, both of whom have been arrested”

IPS Neeraj Kumar Gupta also stated that further investigations are on to identify the backward , forward linkages of drug syndicate and source of the seized Cocaine. He also informed that help of foreign Drug and law enforcement agencies is also being sought.
