Summons issued in connection with Akshay Chhabra drugs case

Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA from SAS Nagar Mohali Kulwant Singh, who happens to be the richest MLA of Punjab has been summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar in connection with investigation related to the infamous Akshay Chhabra drugs case of Ludhiana. Notably AAP MLA in October 2023 was raided by ED and as per sources he has been asked to appear before officials on Tuesday (Jan 30th) in connection with Chhabra case. It has been learnt from reliable sources that Singh a shortwhile back has reached ED office located at Cool Road in Jalandhar where his questioning is going on. The Akshay Chhabra drugs case came to fore in 2022 when Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted an international heroin syndicate having its main hub in Ludhiana and seized several crores worth Heroin along with making multiple arrests. During NCB's investigation it was established that Ludhiana businessman Akshay Chahbra was kingpin of this racket and he was running two Heroin processing labs in Ludhiana which were being operated by two Afghan Nationals. According to NCB, Chhabra had links in Afghanistan & Pakistan and the primary modus operandi in this nexus was to import heroin, morphine from Afghanistan through cargo route and further manufacture heroin in Ludhiana itself. During the course of investigation NCB seized 34.466 kgs Heroin, 5.470 kgs morphine , 557 grams opium and arrested 16 persons. In further investigation of the case On January 20th 2023 NCB sealed 66 liquor vends in Ludhiana belonging to AS & Company and had claimed that Akshay Chahbra had invested crores of rupees in these liquor vends.
