Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Branch Manager and a Field Officer of Punjab National Bank, Garhmukteshwar Branch, Hapur (UP) on demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from the complainant in connection with approval of a loan. A case was registered against the said accused on a complainant. It was alleged that the complainant had applied for KVIC loan for purchase of swing machines under PMEGP scheme. The aforesaid loan was stated to have been approved by the bank but for the disbursal of the loan amount of Rs. 2,00,000/- said Branch Manager and Field Officer allegedly demanded bribe/commission. Further it was alleged that the accused told the complainant that loan of Rs. 4,00,000/- would be sanctioned instead of Rs. 2,00,000/- to complainant and for this they demanded Rs. 100000/- as bribe @ rate 25% of the loan amount. CBI laid a trap and the accused Field Officer was caught red handed while accepting undue advantage /bribe amount of Rs. 20000/- (as first installment) on behalf of the both accused. The said Branch Manager was also apprehended. Searches were conducted, in this connection, at the premises of accused at Meerut and Hapur (UP). The arrested accused will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases, Ghaziabad (UP).
