Punjab Congress's prominent leader & ex Cabinet Minister of Punjab Bharat Bhushan Ashu arrested by ED. Ashu had gone today to ED Jalandhar office to appear before the officials in connection with ongoing investigation of a Food Grain Supply tender scam which took place during his tenure as a minister.

Notably ED Jalandhar had carried out raids on August 24th 2023 in Punjab Food Grain Tender Scam case on Bharat Bhushan Ashu who was Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Punjab during previous Congress government in Punjab. Along with Ashu several of his associates were also raided by ED and search was conducted in several cities of Punjab including Ludhiana, Mohali, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar and Amritsar.

ED initiated investigation in the Punjab Food Grain Tender Scam on the basis of various FIRs registered by Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana, under various sections of IPC 1860 and of PC Act, 1988. On the basis of information available, investigation was initiated against the above said persons and their associates in order to ascertain the money laundering activities undertaken by them for laundering the proceeds of crime.
