In a shocking incident, suspended AIG (Assistant Inspector General) of Punjab Police, Malvinder Singh Sidhu shot dead his son in law Harpreet Singh who was an ICAS (Indian Civil Accounts Service) officer at mediation centre of Chandigarh Court Complex. 

Harpreet Singh had gone to the mediation centre located in Court Complex, Sector 43 Chandigarh today   (Saturday) in connection with his ongoing marital dispute case with Sidhu’s daughter. According to sources Sidhu on the pretext of asking the directions to washroom from Harpreet, took him outside the mediation room and shot three bullets at him, killing him on the spot. 

Sidhu was arrested by police and the murder weapon too has been taken into possession by the investigating officers. Notably Sidhu who was AIG in Punjab Police was suspended from the force last year on allegations of extortion and fraud.
