In a case associated with disproportionate assets, two accused including former Superintendent of Central GST (CGST) Mumbai Prasidh Narayan Dubey and his wife Vimla Dubey have been sentenced to imprisonment and also imposed total fine of Rs. 2 lakh by the Special Judge of City, Civil & Sessions Court, Mumbai. Prasidh Narayan Dubeyhas been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1 lakh and his wife Vimla Dubey has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.
CBI had registered an instant case on February 20th 2018 on the basis of source information against Prasidh Narayan Dubey. It was alleged that Prima Facie he was found in possession of assets to the extent of Rs. 90.90 lakh (approx) which were disproportionate to his known source of income. The percentage of DA was arrived at 77.18 percent. The check period was taken from June 17th, 1994 to February 23rd, 2018.
After the completion of the investigation, a charge-sheet was filed by CBI on December 23rd, 2020 against the convicted accused. Thereafter, charges were framed on June 16th 2022 and 100 prosecution witnesses were examined to prove the charges. The Court, after completion of the trial, held both accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
