Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Sakshi Sawhney, convened a meeting on Tuesday with District Nodal Officers and Assistant Nodal Officers from various committees to ensure thorough preparations ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Held at Bachat Bhawan, the meeting focused on reviewing ongoing arrangements for the general elections, emphasizing compliance with the Election Commission of India's directives.
Present at the meeting were SSP Ludhiana Rural Navneet Singh Bains, ADCs Ojsavi Alankar, Major Amit Sareen, Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Rupinder Pal Singh, among others.
Sawhney scrutinized the structure and functioning of the committees, issuing specific directives to ensure effective mechanisms are established. The Manpower Management Committee will assess personnel requirements district-wide for conducting the elections, while the EVM Management Committee will oversee the proper storage, security, availability, and inspection of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Additionally, nodal officers for implementing the model code of conduct will ensure strict adherence to Election Commission instructions, while those overseeing law and order will conduct vulnerability mapping and develop security plans. The Computerization, Cybersecurity, and IT Committee will oversee randomization, cybersecurity, and IT training for personnel.
Sawhney also reviewed transport, training, material, and expenditure management, as well as SVEEP activities, ballot papers, and facilities for persons with disabilities. Nodal officers were tasked with promptly addressing complaints received through C-vigil, offline channels, and the NGSP portal. Furthermore, arrangements were made for lodging armed forces personnel landing in the district to avoid inconvenience, along with webcasting facilities in all polling stations
