In a major crackdown against illegal constructions, different teams of Municipal Corporation (MC) demolished 11 illegal structures and sealed five commercial buildings over building bylaws violation on Friday. The civic body teams also demolished two under construction illegal colonies near the main dump site of MC on Tajpur road. Working on the directions of MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, the civic body teams of Zone B, C and D conducted the drives against illegal constructions on Friday. MC Zone D team sealed four illegal commercial buildings including those situated on Sua road (block-18), Malhar road, opposite Krishna Mandir in Model Town Extension and near Gol market in Model Town. Further, the team also demolished an illegal commercial building being constructed in the residential area of Kanchan Colony on Pakhowal road. Speaking of the demolition drive conducted by Zone B team, Assistant Town Planner (ATP-Zone B) Harvinder Singh Honey said that the teams demolished two illegal colonies being constructed illegally near MC dump site. Further he said that 10 more under construction illegal buildings were demolished including three illegal shops and four illegal residential buildings near MC main dump site, one factory in Shankar colony and two illegal shops in Moti Nagar, Jamalpur. Similarly, MC Zone C team sealed an illegal 'Dharam Kanda' in Shimlapuri (near Jain Da Theka). Speaking of the same, the officials said that a complaint was received against the unauthorized construction done on panchayat land. A resident had also filed a complaint against the said 'illegal construction' in the State Human Right Commission. Meanwhile, the civic body officials stated that the drive against illegal constructions will continue in the coming days too.
