In a major action, Central GST Commissionerate Ludhiana has launched another crackdown against the fraudulent firms and entities operating in Mandi Gobindgarh and Ludhiana. According to information available to Thesocial24 from industry sources, since last week more than a dozen different teams formed by the CGST department began their operation against the suspected firms on Friday and the action is continuing till date.

The departmental teams along with physically verifying the place of business and office of the suspected firms are also scrutinising the Input Tax Credit (ITC) availed by these firms and so far GST numbers of multiple firms which have been found bogus has been cancelled and further action is underway as well.

Though investigation of the department is still underway but it has also been learnt that as of now majority of the firms found to be fake were showing trading of metal scrap as their primary business. Speaking to Thesocial24 on condition of anonymity, vice president of a business association said, "The action of CGST is appreciable as it is need of the hour that the firms, persons running bogus billing nexus should be wiped off from the system so that genuine firms do not face any kind of problem.
