This decision was taken by all the business associations after our meeting with the BJP leadership after their assurance that on March 4th a meeting of our delegation will be organised with minister of commerce and industry and concerned officials in New Delhi. As we have been assured that all our grievances will be resolved in this meeting we have agreed to defer our agitation as of now”

Elaborating about the issue being faced by the Textile and Garment industry, Jindal said, “From past sometime our industry is facing huge losses due to unchecked import of Chinese garment and other commodities by using malpractices like under-invoicing, tax evasion etc. Regardless of our repeated representations to the concerned departments nothing has been done till date which has left our industry bleeding. We have only one demand from the government that minimum custom duty of 350 percent on import of Chinese garments and related commodities and strict checking of consignments from China should be done so as no one is able to evade the duty”

Jindal also mentioned that in a few days Punjab Government is also going to announce their budget so the government should introduce some loan schemes even for their industry so that it could benefit the industrialists to expand and grow their businesses.
